Our selection committee wanted to highlight the efforts of a company that has distinguished itself through its signature and singular approach, its exceptional international launch, its tours in prestigious venues and, last but not least, the strategic efforts of its dedicated and experienced team. The spring and autumn tour of Les jolies choses by the Compagnie Catherine Gaudet includes 29 performances in the following countries: Lithuania, Portugal, Germany (Munich, Potsdam, Münster), Ireland (Dublin), Switzerland (Geneva), Belgium (Brussels), Spain (Barcelona and Madrid) and France (Biennale de Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Clermont-Ferrand and Paris, at Chaillot, Théâtre national de la Danse).
General and artistic director of The Compagnie Catherine Gaudet
The Compagnie Catherine Gaudet, for which Catherine Gaudet has been general and artistic director since its inception, was founded in August 2019 in Montreal. Its repertoire includes several short plays and 10 full-length works: L’invasion du vide (2009), Je suis un autre (2012), Au sein des plus raides vertus (2014), La très excellente et lamentable tragédie de Roméo et Juliette (2016), Tout ce qui va revient (2018), L’affadissement du merveilleux (2018), Se dissoudre (2021), Les jolies choses (2022), Les mondes parallèles (2023) and Mains moites (2023). These works have been produced in Montreal, and many have been presented nationally and internationally, including in Denmark, France, Belgium, Germany and the United States, at renowned theaters and festivals such as Festival TransAmériques (Montreal), the Lyon Biennale, Festival Tanz im August (Berlin) and Théâtre national de Chaillot (Paris). The company is currently enjoying remarkable international success. Since its premiere at Montreal’s Festival TransAmériques, Les jolies choses has been a hit with presenters. The Compagnie Catherine Gaudet collaborates with DLD – Daniel Léveillé Danse to present works from its repertoire.
