Laureate 2018

The jury of CINARS sought to highlight the tour conducted by Cas Public between February 25th to May 5th, 2018, with 34 representations of the choreographic work 9 in 3 countries (France, Sweden, and Belgium) and in 18 cities, including two major European capitals, Paris and Stockholm. 9 was performed in exceptional venues, such as the Opéra national de Paris, the Dansens Hus in Stockholm (where it sold out), and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi. This major tour represents an unparalleled record in the company’s activities.

CAS PUBLIC

Founded by choreographer Hélène Blackburn in 1989, the Montreal-based dance company Cas Public is dedicated to choreographic research and creation based on the renewal of approaches in contemporary dance. It is a beacon for artists’ from various backgrounds, coming together in common choreographic research. Winner of the 2007 Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal, the company is celebrated in Quebec, Canada and abroad for its major tours and continued presence in some of the most prestigious venues in Europe and America. Recognized for the intensity of its dance, its virtuosity, and the excellence of its creations, Cas Public has been incorporating works for young audiences and for all audiences to its programming since 2001 to initiate a wider audience and contribute to the development and scope of dance.
