Eight editions, Eight awards

The 8th PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL (PDM) is just days away! The awards ceremony will take place under the honorary presidency of choreographer Mélanie Demers at the Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth Hotel on Thursday, November 15 at 4:45 p.m., in conjunction with the CINARS Biennale. This year, CINARS has created the 8th Prix: the 2018 Prix DIFFUSION INTERNATIONALE de la danse de Montréal. This new prize is dedicated to a Canadian Dance company that has put together an outstanding international tour and comes with a $5,000 grant. LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL was created in 2011 on the initiative of choreographer Marie Chouinard, president of the event. This year’s awards recognize the excellence of dance artists from here and beyond who distinguished themselves on Montreal stages between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. The event also recognizes the work of managers and personalities that have raised the discipline’s profile. Lastly, the event reaffirms Montreal’s dynamism as an international dance capital and its reputation on the world stage.

Les PDM is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Montréal as an international hub for the creation and dissemination of dance and to highlight the dynamism of personalities, organizations and institutions in the dance community, notably by presenting honorary distinctions coupled with cash prizes. Its board of directors, chaired by Marie Chouinard, is made up of Caroline Ohrt (vice-chair), Lorraine Hébert (secretary), Bernard Lagacé (treasurer), and Marie-Christine Cojocaru, Sylvain Émard and Frédérick Gravel (directors).
